Land Rover San Juan Texas is excited to welcome the newest and largest SUV in the line-up, the Land Rover Defender 130. The iconic luxury off-road SUV gets an upgrade in size to accommodate a full-sized third row, expanding its seating capacity from five to eight. Enjoy the superior off-road capability while taking all your companions along for the ride. From Pharr to Brownsville, TX, Land Rover fans can look forward to getting their first look at the new Defender 130 later this year.

Land Rover Defender Exterior Features and Accessories

The Land Rover Defender 130 retains the iconic box shape, and many features Mission drivers already love in the Defender line-up. The new Defender 130's extra length in the body is the stand-out feature, with plenty of small appearance and technological upgrades to give it a modern refresh. You'll have your pick of the new Sedona Red exterior paint, a brand-new exclusive color for the 130, paired with standard Narvik Black roof rails. Each model has unique options and features that make it stand out and create a look tailored to your specific preferences.

2023 Land Rover Defender Interior Space and Comfort to the Max

The third-row seating is the most significant new feature of the Land Rover Defender 130. While third-row seating is not exactly new (as it has been an option for the Defender 110), third-row seating in the Defender 130 will offer more ample space for three adults. All the extra room inside is made possible by nearly an extra foot of space created by expanding the dimensions of the rear body. With a full third row and adjustable second row, the new Defender 130 can fit a party of eight adults, including the driver.

The third row feels just as spacious as the second row, thanks to all the extra room plus the additional fixed sunroof overhead. The fixed sunroof is situated behind the massive panoramic sunroof extending from the front seats over the second row. All the extra light creates an airy, breathable space with plenty of overhead room. If you need cargo space, all six seats fold all the way down, providing a cavernous space that can fit everything you could possibly need. Much of the rest of the interior remains largely unchanged. It features plush leather seating with a seamless blend of class and ruggedness.

2023 Land Rover Defender 130 Enhanced Safety Features Come Standard

All the Driver Assistance safety features you would expect come standard on each model:

  • Emergency Braking: Prevent Foreseeable Collisions Automatically
  • 3D Surround Camera: Improve Maneuverability with 360-Degree Overhead View and ClearSight Ground View

Take Your Pick from Five Models

The Land Rover Defender 130 will come in five customizable options. Since this is the inaugural release, you'll also have the Defender First Edition available.

Defender S

The base model will feature 19" wheels, ebony-grained leather seat facings with an Ebony interior. The front seats will come heated with electric memory and 2-way manual headrests. You'll also get other amenities like heated, electric folding side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather steering wheel, and leather gearshift, all standard.

Defender SE

At the SE level, you'll get everything in the S trim plus the upgraded P400 and 20" tires. Also standard at this level is the sliding panoramic roof and additional cooling feature to the front seats, which already come with the heating function at the base level.

Defender X – Dynamic SE

At the Dynamic SE level, you'll get everything that comes standard on the Defender SE, plus some additional appearance features, including upgraded two-toned leather seats and illuminated metal treadplates.

Defender First Edition

Since this is the first year for the Defender 130, Land Rover will release a First Edition model. Terrain response and adaptive air suspension are key features of the inaugural Defender 130. You'll be able to choose from three colors: Fuji white, the new Sedona Red, and Carpathian Grey. All three will be available with a complimentary leather interior in three distinct colorways.

Defender X

If you are an enthusiast looking to take advantage of the Defender 130's 4WD capability, the Defender X model is beefed up for extreme off-roading. Adaptive suspension and All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), exclusively from Land Rover, are added features meant to enhance the off-road capability. Some of the appearance features from the SE level drop off, but you will gain leather seating and metal pedals, which add a more rugged touch.

Technology

Infotainment Connected Technology

All the technology features you would expect in a modern vehicle is available at your fingertips. Enjoy the immersive MeridianTM Sound System, where you can hear your favorite stations from Sirius XMTM Satellite Radio and HD Radio. Connect your devices with Android AutoTM or Apple CarPlay® and control all your applications from the 11.4" Touchscreen. The latest Pivi Pro provides an intuitive operating system and paired with the Online Pack with Data Plan, you'll have access to all the connected features you love.

Engine Options and Performance

To start, the Defender 130 will come equipped with one of two 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engines: P300 or P400. The P300 produces 296 maximum horsepower, while the P400 can produce just under 100 more horsepower topping out at 395. The difference in acceleration from 0-60 miles per hour between these two engines is 1.2 seconds. We don't expect a V-8 option for this first generation, though both engines get a boost in power from 48-volt hybrid assistance.
